Sony Ericsson K800i Specifications and K800i in-depth Review

A candy bar style phone, the Sony Ericsson K800i comes in black or silver. The keypad is raised, although slightly smaller than what could be comfortable for people with big fingers, and the navigation pad is located between the screen and number keys. The viewscreen is a 2”, 240×320 pixel screen that displays in millions of colors. It has a 64MB internal memory and an expansion slot for a microSD. It is also compatible with the memory sticks that will allow the storage space to be increased even more. These are sold separately. It has photo identification when receiving a call, and supports MP3 and Polyphone ringtones.

K800i has a high quality Cyber-Shot optics camera. It has a xenon flash, autofocus and lens cover. Users need to watch out for the lens cover though as it tends to pop off and activate the camera on its own. It can nine photos in one second and includes a picture stabilizer in case the user has shaking hands. This phone supports accelerated 3G (HSDPA), allowing the user to access the Internet and download files at broadband speeds. Because of this, video calling is an option and the quality is good using a front-facing second camera. The quality of the video recording on this phone seems poor compared to the beauty of the pictures it takes, but if used for candid scenes, it serves the user well.

The K800i by Sony has a fully featured media player complete with an FM radio. The audio player supports AAC and MP3, and the video player supports MPEG4. Users can add ringtones, use the organizer (calculator, calendar, reminders), and send and receive text and multi-media messaging.

Connectivity for the K800i is excellent with full support for Bluetooth and USB. This allows the user to be able to listen to music on a wireless headset and making it very easy to transfer music files between phone and PC. The battery has a talk time of seven hours and a stand-by time of 320 hours. The phone is Internet browser capable and can access business applications such as e-mail. There is no document viewer with the phone, so viewing some attachments may be difficult. The user can talk and access other function of the phone at the same time.

Other features of the Sony Ericsson’s model K800i include a built-in hands free microphone that can be used for phone calls as well as for video recording. Other accessories are available for this phone and users should check with their local Sony dealers or cell phone service providers for additional information on accessories. Since these phones have been on the market for a while, users should be able to purchase one for a low cost or free with an applicable service contract.
