Sony Ericsson Z555 / Z555i / Z555a Fashion Mobile Phone

In 2007 we witnessed the growth of a new emerging sector in the mobile phone industry - The Fashion mobile’s, while being modern, often shift focus from the feature list available to the design asthetics. Fashion mobiles, in this case the Sony Ericsson Z555 - are usually made for the fashion conscious among us and often come ‘dumbed’ down in comparison to similar mobile phones released around the same time.

The Sony Ericsson Z555 is no different, it’s well designed and following in the footsteps of the Nokia 7500 and 7900 the Sony Ericsson Z555 incorporates the diamond theme - although using a slightly altered design - used throughout the Nokia Prisim series.

While the Sony Ericsson has not been released yet it’s features and specifications are far under par when compared to the likes of the already released Sony Ericsson U600 and The SE G600. With that said the Sony Ericsson Z555 deserves alot more than just being compared with it’s more advanced cousins, while the SE Z555 lacks the technological advances seen in the latest releases from Sony Ericsson it is in noway trying to compete outside of it’s Fashion Mobile sector.

As a Fashion Mobile phone the Sony Ericsson performs well and looks great, however under the cover the Sony Ericsson Z555 feature’s a relatively simple setup; A 1.3 megapixel camera, a standard 1.9″ 176 x 220 pixel display, an expected FM radio, aswell as a media player, stereo Bluetooth and expandable memory.

A quote from Sony Ericsson’s Sven Totte’s reads;

“The Z555 is designed to reflect your look and attract attention, We’ve created it for people who are looking for a beautifully designed phone that reflects their personal style and does not compromise on features or performance.”

Unfortunately as mentioned before, the phone looks great but it’s 1.3 Megapixel camera is unlikely to perform aswell as the Sony Ericsson’s U600’s 3.2 Megapixel camera although will likely be in a similar price range. However it’s not all bad news for the Sony Ericsson Z555 as it features some very nifty features and extras such as Gesture Control (controlling various options by moving the phone in your hand) , Hidden display (Caller ID shown without opening up the phone), Everchanging themes (Season changing styles) and a sleek, beautiful design.

The Sony Ericsson Z555 is available in two different models, the Z555i and the Z555a. Release date is set for the 2nd Quater of 2008.

    2. I have just bought the z555i and it does appear to peform as it looks - superb !
    It is missing a video clips item which is a pity
