Apple iPhone Specifications and iPhone in-depth Review

The Apple iPhone is a small, slim multi-purpose device that is as much as entertainment gadget as it is functional tool. It has a 3.5” widescreen display that is multi-touch with a 480×320 pixel resolution at 163ppi (pixels per inch). The display can support multiple languages and characters at the same time. It comes with an 8GB flash drive to hold all your music, photos and videos. The phone allows conferencing, call holding, call merging, caller ID and integration.

The iPhone features a built in 2.0 megapixel camera but it does not have a flash. It is great for taking still digital photos. It does not, however, support video recording, although it does have a video voicemail feature allowing users to view current voicemail messages without having to call into the voicemail. The user can also watch TV shows and films, played in landscape orientation. Games and other applications are also available for the phone based on the service package the user is subscribed to.

The music library of the iPhone by Apple is laid out with divided sections that are alphabetical. Media can be sorted by songs, artists, albums, videos, etc., and will show a different album cover for each section. Scrolling through the library is done by swiping the user’s finger across the screen. Users can purchase and download songs and ringtones from the iTunes Store directly over the Wi-Fi option, but not over the cellular data network. The iTunes store also offers wallpapers, screen savers, and other graphics that can be downloaded for the iPhone. This does require an iTunes subscription which costs an additional fee.

Apple’s iPhone is also Internet ready when connected to a Wi-Fi network. The browser supports full web pages, but not Flash or Java. Users tap the screen to zoom in and out of the pages. It can also access Google’s map service as well as YouTube videos. It supports an e-mail program that can accept standard e-mails with attachments in .PDF, Word, and Excel formats. Text messaging, instant messaging and media messaging are all other common functions of the phone.
All of the above is in addition to the standard contacts list, organizer, calendar, and alarm clock features that are found on other, less expensive, and less complicated phones. The iPhone is Bluetooth ready, but does not support stereo audio headsets except for the one that is provided as part of the phone’s standard packaging. The packaging also includes a phone dock and computer cable, USB power adaptor, documentation, and cleaning cloth. The battery is a rechargeable lithium ion battery that lasts for eight hours of talk time, seven hours of video playback, and twenty-four hours of audio playback.

The Apple iPhone is currently priced at £269.00 and if not purchased direct from the Apple Store, it is available on an O2 Mobile phone contract, those who would rather using the Iphone on Vodafone, T-Mobile, Virgin, Orange or Pay As You Go will be disappointed to find out that no announcements have been made in-terms of it’s availability on these other networks. Additional accessories are available for the phone.
